The event is critically important as individuals and families are dealing with unprecedented uncertainty; facing a pandemic that is devastating minority and low-income communities disproportionately. Dealing with extreme economic conditions affecting job security with hours being cut and millions filing for unemployment, an increased need for access to basic resources, and housing instability just to name a few major concerns for families. With small businesses having to shutter their doors and families scrambling for basic needs, what tools and resources can help our community survive, build resilience and thrive beyond this pandemic? The series will seek to address this uncertainty by offering four sessions focused on the financial needs of families during these economic times. This will be a virtual series taking place at noon on January 13th, January 27th, February 10th and February 24th, 2021.
“We are happy that we can offer a safe, supportive discussion for Detroit and Flint residents to get their questions answered live. Everyone deserves access to financial tools, resources and experts that can positively impact their financial wellbeing and generate hope regarding their financial future. We are excited that the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM) is helping to coordinate Show Me The Money Day events all over the State of Michigan and hope that people will take advantage of this unique opportunity,” said Glenn Wilson, President/CEO of Communities First, Inc.
