Communities First, Inc. was selected to receive the Genesee District Library's Partner in Progress Award at their annual brunch in February. The event was full of fun and fellowship as CFI celebrated with other award winners, supporters and community members. The annual brunch began in 2002 to bring the community together and recognize African Americans that are contributing to Genesee County's history. Communities First, Inc. received the award in recognition of the organization's commitment to bringing resources to the community, engaging residents and producing tangible change that is meaningful to stakeholders.
The special guest musician for the event was Linkin' Bridge, a male acapella group that appeared on America's Got Talent. Linkin' Bridge performed renditions of crowd favorites and had a comedic flair that was very entertaining. The event was covered by WJRT ABC 12 and they produced this great video that summarizes CFI's work. Other 2018 awardees included Pastor Jeffery Hawkins, Mr. Charles "Chuckii" Montgomery, Jr., and Mr. Sam Wells.
