Community Conversations is an ongoing community dialogue facilitated by CFI. Through Community Conversations, we hope to capture what residents like you think about the communities we live, work, and play in. You can be a part of our Community Conversations today by sharing your thoughts and answers here.
To date, we have completed Community Conversations in Flint, Detroit, and Saginaw, Michigan. Over 115 youth and adults have shared what they like and what they would change about their cities. Previous answers include observations on the physical look and organization of cities, comments on local issues and creative solutions to these problems, as well as description of each city’s unique culture and attitudes. Participants were also encouraged to imagine what their ideal cities would look like, and we encouraged people to dream big.
At CFI, we believe there is nothing that we cannot do together and when submitting answers to Community Conversations, participants were invited to share whatever came to mind; there is no problem too great or solution too creative to be included in this project. This opportunity is an open space for community members to share their true thoughts, experiences, needs and feedback.
Below you’ll see word maps, organized by city, that were created from our participants answers to our first installment of Community Conversations. We hope you take away from your participation in this project that you are an important member of your community, your thoughts and experiences are valued, and you can be a positive force of change.
