Culture Shock presented a free outdoor cinema experience complete with fresh popcorn called “Movie Under the Stars” on August 8, 2014. The event provided an opportunity for families to get out of the house and enjoy an evening together in a part of Flint they might not know about--the park behind City Hall. Communities First, Inc. President and CEO, Glenn Wilson, said that “by offering this activity free of charge, CFI removes a barrier many families and individuals face when looking for entertainment options.” The featured film was Rio, an animated comedy-adventure set in the vivid country of Brazil.
The public was invited to first enjoy the 2nd Friday Artwalk in downtown Flint, and then walk to City Hall to watch the movie after dark. More than 200 people attended the movie. This event was sponsored in part by Savon Handcrafted Luxury Soaps, Mayberry Media and Piper Realty.
